European Turkology Symposium

Dear Scientists,

We are honored and delighted to invite you to the European Turkology Symposium, which will be held in Budapest on October 8–10, 2025, in collaboration with Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), and the Yunus Emre Institute.

This symposium aims to provide a platform for researchers working in the fields of Turkish language, literature, history, culture, and the contemporary Turkic world to share their knowledge and expertise, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and strengthen international academic cooperation. The event will take place at Eötvös Loránd University, one of Europe’s most distinguished academic institutions, located in the historic city of Budapest, Hungary.

European Turkology has held a prominent position in the academic world for centuries, contributing significantly to studies on the Turkish language, literature, history, and culture. Especially during the 19th and 20th centuries, cities such as Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, and Paris served as major centers for Turkological research, shaping the discipline’s evolution and academic scope.

In this context, the European Turkology Symposium seeks to bring together scholars, researchers, and institutions engaged in Turkology to foster the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experience. Key topics to be addressed include:

  • Historical and contemporary aspects of the Turkish language

  • The evolution of Turkish literature

  • Reflections of Turkish culture in Europe

  • New methodologies in Turkological research

Papers may be presented in Turkish or English. The program will also feature panels, workshops, and special sessions with the participation of distinguished scholars. In addition to providing an enriching academic experience, the symposium will include various cultural and social events, offering participants the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural richness of Budapest.

We warmly invite you to contribute to the symposium with your scientific work and esteemed presence. We look forward to meeting you in Budapest on October 8–10, 2025, for a productive, inspiring, and intellectually rewarding gathering.

With our sincere regards,
European Turkology Symposium Organizing Committee
